Ashley Garcia O.D. was born and raised in San Antonio, TX. Doctor Garcia graduated from Harlandale High School and attended St. Mary’s University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree with a minor in Chemistry. She then went on to attend the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry where she received her Doctorate of Optometry. While attending school, she was a member of Fellowship of Christian Optometrists and participated in mission trips to Guatemala where she helped to translate for the community from English to Spanish, the Texas Rio Grande, and in downtown San Antonio giving full eye exams to those who did not have prior access to eye care.
Doctor Garcia has gained experience in multiple areas in optometry through her externships at the VA Clinic in Austin and at the Bond Wroten Eye Clinic in Louisiana. During her externships, Dr. Garcia was trained in treatment and management of various diseases such as diabetic and hypertensive retinopathy, glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eye syndrome, and age related macular degeneration. Dr. Garcia is also trained in co-management of cataract and refractive surgeries, as well as various contact lens fittings.
When Dr. Garcia is not in clinic she enjoys spending time with her family, fiancé and her two dogs Groot and Remy. She also enjoys reading (specially Harry Potter), playing the violin and watching the latest on Netflix.
