Our Doctor

​​​​​Graduated optometry school in 1991 from the University of Houston College of optometry. Join the Air Force as an optometrist at the rank of captain. Was stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls Texas. After three years in Air Force I went into private practice for three years as an associate and then I started my own practice in 1997 was in private practice till 2021. I owned Vision Source Of Liberal in Liberal Kansas, sold my practice and moved to San Antonio to be closer to our grandson. 

​​​​​Dr. Talia Tunstill is a therapeutic optometrist with residency training in primary care and ocular disease. She strives to provide quality eye and vision care through a patient-focused approach.

Dr. Tunstill was born and raised in Fort Hood, Texas. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology with a minor in Stem education from Texas A&M University. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry. She completed clinical externships in contact lens, primary care, and ocular disease at a private practice and the VA clinic in Austin, Texas. During optometry school, she participated in multiple domestic medical mission trips and one international mission trip in Guatemala. Upon graduation, Dr. Tunstill completed a residency at the Rosenberg School of Optometry in primary care with an emphasis on ocular disease. Her residency training consisted of ocular disease rotations with local cornea, retina, uveitis, and glaucoma specialists. During her training, Dr. Tunstill presented case reports, research, and lectures for the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, local optometric societies, and UIW’s school of medicine and school of optometry.

When she is not practicing optometry, Dr. Tunstill enjoys expressing herself creatively by painting or sketching portraits. She also always enjoys spending quality time with her family and two dogs, listening to “old school” music, and watching re-runs of the Office. 

​​​​​Dr. Emily Burnette grew up in San Antonio, Texas. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Texas at Dallas. Then, she attended the UIW Rosenberg School of Optometry and obtained her Doctorate in Optometry. She completed training in a variety of healthcare settings across Maine, Nebraska, Washington, and Texas. Dr. Burnette is ready to provide full-scope optometric care including the management of anterior and posterior segment ocular diseases, progressive myopia, and surgical co-management. Currently, she is licensed as a Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist in Texas. She is also a member of the American Optometric Association and Texas Optometric Association.

Dr. Burnette strongly believes that vision plays an important role in each person's quality of life. She aims to provide her patients with clear and comfortable vision while ensuring wonderful patient experiences. Outside of work, Dr. Burnette enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and cooking.

Dr. Estefany A. Mendez is a board certified Therapeutic Optometrist at Lauren Alexander Vision Source in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Mendez is passionate about ocular wellness and preventative care with the use of the latest optometric technology. Dr. Mendez provides comprehensive and medical eye exams, contact lens fittings, as well as, co-management of refractive surgeries and many other services. She is able to accurately and successfully manage and treat ocular diseases such as dry and red eyes, eye infections, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, glaucoma and many other ocular pathologies.

Dr. Mendez was born and raised in Mission, Texas and is fluent in both English and Spanish. Dr. Mendez completed her undergraduate studies in Vision Science at The University of Incarnate Word. She then attended The University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry where she graduated with her Doctorate of Optometry degree in 2023. During her academic career, Dr. Mendez was recognized as one of four Clinical Excellence recipients and was consistently recognized as a top clinician within her cohort during optometry school. She received much of her clinical training in medical and disease optometric settings, where she has learned to diagnose and manage even the toughest of patient cases. Dr. Mendez is very passionate about serving her community both local and abroad, most notably in Oaxaca, Mexico. She has partnered with Prevent Blindness San Antonio and is a previous officer of Student Volunteers of Optometric Services to Humanity.  Dr. Mendez was awarded her Student Fellow of the American Optometric Association and served as a Laboratory Teaching Assistant during her time at RSO. She is an active member of the Texas Optometric Society and continues to be an active member of the American Optometric Association.

While a professional in the office, outside of work Dr. Mendez enjoys spending time with her fiancé, friends and family. She also loves participating in domestic and international mission trips, traveling and trying new restaurants. Dr. Mendez is dedicated to providing excellent eye care to her patients so that they may enjoy every aspect of their lives with clear and healthy vision!
