Dr. Estefany A. Mendez is a board certified Therapeutic Optometrist at Lauren Alexander Vision Source in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Mendez is passionate about ocular wellness and preventative care with the use of the latest optometric technology. Dr. Mendez provides comprehensive and medical eye exams, contact lens fittings, as well as, co-management of refractive surgeries and many other services. She is able to accurately and successfully manage and treat ocular diseases such as dry and red eyes, eye infections, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, glaucoma and many other ocular pathologies.
Dr. Mendez was born and raised in Mission, Texas and is fluent in both English and Spanish. Dr. Mendez completed her undergraduate studies in Vision Science at The University of Incarnate Word. She then attended The University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry where she graduated with her Doctorate of Optometry degree in 2023. During her academic career, Dr. Mendez was recognized as one of four Clinical Excellence recipients and was consistently recognized as a top clinician within her cohort during optometry school. She received much of her clinical training in medical and disease optometric settings, where she has learned to diagnose and manage even the toughest of patient cases. Dr. Mendez is very passionate about serving her community both local and abroad, most notably in Oaxaca, Mexico. She has partnered with Prevent Blindness San Antonio and is a previous officer of Student Volunteers of Optometric Services to Humanity. Dr. Mendez was awarded her Student Fellow of the American Optometric Association and served as a Laboratory Teaching Assistant during her time at RSO. She is an active member of the Texas Optometric Society and continues to be an active member of the American Optometric Association.
While a professional in the office, outside of work Dr. Mendez enjoys spending time with her fiancé, friends and family. She also loves participating in domestic and international mission trips, traveling and trying new restaurants. Dr. Mendez is dedicated to providing excellent eye care to her patients so that they may enjoy every aspect of their lives with clear and healthy vision!
