One of the most important reasons to start regular eye exams early is myopia, nearsightedness that typically begins in childhood and worsens over time without intervention. Early detection gives your child the best chance of benefiting from today's proven myopia management options.

We provide comprehensive pediatric eye exams for children ages 7 and older at both our Shavano Park and Potranco locations. For children under age 7, we are happy to recommend a referral to a pediatric eye specialist.

A Stronger Prescription Is Not Always the Whole Story

For some children, an updated prescription for glasses is all that is needed. For others, changes in their prescription over time may indicate progressing myopia, also known as nearsightedness. Monitoring these changes early allows us to determine whether your child may benefit from a personalized myopia management program.
